Welcome to Rat’s Nest - a weekly newsletter with product recs, recipes, funnies and more to peruse on your midday break

Where have I been, you ask? Recovering from Covid. Yes, in 2024 I caught Covid (embarrassing) and it still sucks. I think I got it from a guy who was sitting in front of me on a flight back from Chile. I have nothing to substantiate this claim aside from the fact that he was incredibly annoying.

Enjoy!!!!

  • Smash or pass- Covid supply edition:

    • Trader Joe’s tissues- pass (maybe could use as sandpaper for your next furniture flip though)

    • Kleenex soothing lotion tissues- SMASH. Best tissues of all time. They don’t leave a weird lotiony residue and I have gone through 2 boxes the last week and my nose isn’t all red and raw. I will pledge allegiance to these for the rest of my days.

    • Traditional medicinals cough drops- pass. a Werther’s Original would do the same thing.

    • Alternating Advil and Tylenol- I try to avoid taking these all together but desperate times call for them. They’re cleared by different organs in your body so alternating made me feel a little better about it (this is not medical advice and i don’t know if alternating actually makes a difference but it works for me).

  • Rat’s Hall of Shame- Patrick Ta’s brow gel left a white flakey film on my brows, and Elf’s gave me eyebrow acne (gross, I know).

  • Jam of the week- a 12 hour, non looping (!!!) brown noise track on Spotify

🚬 👀 oops

📖 i’ve never had an original experience

🫠 it’s literally always the latter for me

Signing off mid-cough,

Kate
