Hey Rats!!

My Bieber fever is back in full force. But now, instead of listening to Justin Bieber while staring into his eyes via ceiling poster from the $6.94 Walmart bin (unfortunately that is not a joke), i'm frying my face off with an at-home chemical peel.

Yes, this peel is making sizzling sounds, and also yes, it's spicy, but I'm too scared to get the kind at an esthetician that makes your face peel like a snake. I’m not sharing the rec with you this week out of care and concern for you, my beloved reader. Tbd on if it will or turn me into The Joker or a Disney princess, but you can count on me - i will report back 🫡

  • 🚨 Ruffwear Dog Cooling Vest - We've reached the point where the sun is raging at 8am already. I have an Australian Shepherd who could not give less of a shit that it's 90 degrees out, so I bought this cooling vest to take her on SHORT walks in the heat. It works REALLY well, especially since she has black fur. You just soak it in water, wring it out, and pop it on. Summer pet safety here. (link)

  • Wearing a bonnet to bed - This bonnet keeps my hair smooth overnight, shinier, and I barely have to brush it in the morning. It’s been 2 years of bliss. Bonus: it completely cleared the weird cheek acne I was getting from dirty hair hitting my pillowcase. Black women have known this forever; sadly I'm just now catching up.

  • Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - Look, I know everyone and their mother is talking about this sale, but hear me out. It's actually stuff for fall/winter that's already marked down, not summer clearance bullshit. I'm not gonna pretend I bought a whole new wardrobe, but if you've been putting off getting a decent coat or boots because they're stupidly expensive, this might be your moment.

  • I went deep down a rabbit hole on the Instagram account @Le_tremba - this guy has had 2 surgeries to be taller. Surgeon(s) literally break your bones, insert some mechanism, and then you have to click a device every few days to stretch the bones longer. The whole process takes months and looks like it’s terribly painful, but he's documenting the entire thing… and seems happy..?? Point being, I cannot look away!!!

  • A family in Southern California has bears that regularly swim in their pool and honestly, it's both terrifying and adorable. I mean, looking out your window to see a bear cub playing with a pool floaty has got to take the edge off a hard day, right?

  • South Korea's plastic surgery tourism is so popular they now have a doctor shortage- The government promoted medical tourism so heavily that regular doctors are leaving to do cosmetic procedures because it pays way better. So now if you need actual medical care, good luck! But hey, at least the facelifts are thriving.

  • Netflix hosted the FIRST EVER all-women boxing card at Madison Square Garden and it SOLD OUT. This is obviously iconic and I'm here for women getting the recognition they deserve in sports. About time. You can watch the replay here.

Yes that’s Jake Paul let’s just ignore that part

  • Larry David is making his TV return with a show about American History... produced by THE OBAMAS. Former President Obama said: "I've sat across the table from some of the world's most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David."

  • Justin Bieber randomly dropped his new album Thursday night - his first with full creative control. I'm unfortunately unable to give an impartial review since I've had Bieber fever since I was 13 (re: my poster comment from earlier). It’s definitely not his best, but definitely not his worst.

Signing off hoping my face didn’t burn off,

Kate

P.S. If you enjoyed this, send it to somebody with Bieber Fever. If you didn’t, send it to Scooter Braun.
