Rat's Nest Week 44

Is Ina Garten my new life coach??? (the answer is yes)

Hey Rats!!

I was going to tell you about the $10 pro wrestling match I went to last weekend, but honestly I think it was a had-to-be-there kind of thing. I will, however, include the following GIF because this wrestler was a diva and you did not have to be there to appreciate the excellence:

Have a kickass week!

  • 🌪️ Tornadoes in paradise- I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of time watching tornado coverage lately and the YouTube channel Ryan Hall Y’all has kept me from losing my mind. He’s calm, not alarmist, and has a soothing radio voice that somehow makes EF3 tornadoes feel manageable. If you live in the South (or anywhere that storms), bookmark him now. I love that he tells you exactly when to take shelter vs. the National Weather Service giving you general guidance.

  • 💄 The Sephora spring sale has begun for certain tiers, so here is my reminder I promised you a month ago. It’s 10-20% off depending on your tier, and per usual I caution against buying stuff just because it’s on sale. If you’re in the market for a few new things though- now is a good time to treat yourself! My favorites are linked here, and my treat yo self haul (nothing tested yet) from yesterday is linked here.

  • 📖 Ina Garten’s memoir is really, really good- I started Be Ready When the Luck Happens last week and I am CAPTIVATED. I’m only three chapters in and already obsessed. The writing is really lovely, and Ina narrates the audiobook herself (which makes it even better). I’ve been listening on Spotify Premium, which gives you 15 hours of audiobooks a month- very worth it if you’re audiobook-curious.

  • 💌 I’m not usually a horoscope girl, but this article gave me flashbacks to reading Seventeen magazine on the floor of my childhood bedroom. Mine literally said “This is one of the most positive cards in tarot that can be received.” Consider me an astrology girl until I get a slightly negative horoscope, then i’m jumping ship.

  • 🏈 A very good thing happened in men’s sports this week (rare)- NFL player Khalen Saunders is launching an LGBTQ-friendly youth football camp. He said, “Being an ally is more than just saying ‘I support,’ but it’s also showing up.” Amidst the usual headline hell (cough cough, tariffs), this was refreshing.

  • 📱 Ban or no ban? Good news for my fellow TikTok addicts- the ban got extended another 75 days. Is it a good thing? I don’t know. I feel whiplash on the whole flip-flop back and forth.

Signing off with one eye on the weather radar,

Kate

P.S. If you enjoyed this, send this to someone who also believes Ina Garten could fix their life. If you didn’t, send it to your coworker who reheats fish in the breakroom.
