diagnosed with locked in syndrome

Welcome to Rat’s Nest - a weekly newsletter with product recs, recipes, funnies and more to peruse on your midday break

Fun news, guys- Rat’s Nest is getting a facelift. Stay tuned for the freshened up look + categories next week!!

Enjoy!!!!

  • Go ahead, call me dramatic- I did it. Even though I live in the South and have never been skiing, I purchased ski bibs. Why? Because we got a rare snowfall with five-degree weather last year, so I tried to go sledding but ended up with snow down my pants and spending the rest of my afternoon WebMD to self-diagnose frostbite.. Highly recommend The North Face Freedom style- I bought a style from them a couple of years ago because they were cheap, but the current ones are linked here.

  • It’s a no from me dog- Look, I like weird but at what point have we just straight up strayed too far from the light? Who asked for a corksicle x KFC collab? Orrr is this potentially the perfect gag gift for Christmas 2025?

girl what

  • Hot dog- If you want your dog to hate your guts then I recommend buying them this jacket. I never thought I'd be giving my dog a lecture about how she needs to wear a jacket when it's 20 degrees outside, but here we are.

Doesn’t she look so happy to be in her new jacket?

  • Jam of the week- I’ll Do It by Heidi Montag (yes, Heidi from 2000s reality show The Hills- more on this later)

😡 2025 is going to be our year guys

😌✨ may we all have the confidence of the Papatui marketing team

  • WTF is going on with TikTok? The Supreme Court's hearing on a potential TikTok ban last week didn't exactly inspire confidence, but there might be a new player in the game. Project Liberty threw their hat in the ring with a bid to buy TikTok's US operations, even though it's not actually up for sale. Points for effort, I guess?

  • Wait, Heidi Montag has a #1 album...in 2025? After The Hills alums Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's home was tragically destroyed in the recent LA fires, Spencer (a bonafide TikTok star) rallied the internet to stream + purchase Heidi's 2010 album, Superficial, as a way to support them. If you want to jump in a time machine to 2010, you can watch the music video below (worth the watch for a giggle, what an unserious time).

Signing off with my dog mean-mugging me,

Kate
