Rat's Nest Week 5

• Green Thumb- Rising out of my seasonal depression and nursing my neglected house plants back to life with organic fertilizer (if you don’t believe me, just read a few reviews- those people are very passionate)

• Kenough- I wont go so far as to say SNL is back, but Ryan Gosling’s monologue was kentastic (and on theme for Taylor Swift Week)

• Innovation- FINALLY! A mess-proof way to remove nail polish! Say goodbye to piles of cotton balls! Also works faster than standard remover IMO

• Tortured Fling Department- i can’t get enough of the internet dragging Matty Healy because Taylor Swift said he wears Jehovah’s Witness suits in one of her songs. It’s always the dirtbag-situationship that hurts the most, isn’t it?

In case you missed it, the #1 draft pick for the WNBA, Caitlin Clark, signed a $338,000 4 year contract with the Indiana Fever. I’m no sports buff, but even I know that’s a joke of a salary (~80k ish/year) for a NUMBER ONE PICK!

We could get into the pay disparity of men and women in sports (and in general) for hours, but this did prompt me to reflect- of the sports games I have watched over the last year, what % of them were women’s leagues?

The answer was probably about 20%. Which then made me realize I am a part of the problem. If I want women’s sports to get equitable viewership and pay, then I need to be actively supporting them with my viewership and dollars.

The overarching message here is that time and money are both currency that you can put towards advancing things that matter to you.

LFG women’s sports!!!! Hopefully one day soon I can just say sports!!
